Make sure that the handset is placed back on the base unit after each call. Do not leave the handset off the base for extended periods of time as this will shorten the talk life of the battery.
Make sure when you charge the phone the first time that you charge it for a full 20 hours without the telephone cord connected to the base. This applies for replacement batteries as well.
